How Can You Win Without Scoring A Goal?

By identifying your values, vision and mission, you’ve determined what’s most important to you. Your most vivid, powerful and inspiring goals are those in direct alignment with what you value most.

When you picture what it will take to accomplish your ideal world, you can automatically see specific, concrete milestones along the way to realizing this dream. Make these milestones your most important goals.

Today’s TQ Challenge: Keep Goals Aligned with Core Personal Values.

  1. Choose to be DETERMINED! Are you pursuing goals that are not directly in line with what you value most?
  2. Choose to be PURPOSEFUL! What’s your #1 Goal right now? What will achieving it help you further achieve once you’ve attained it?
  3. Choose to be PASSIONATE! Are your current goals vivid, powerful and inspiring?

Your most powerful and inspiring goals are those that are directly aligned with what you value most. Goals that are aligned with your life’s mission are those that bring an ideal personal vision closer to reality. Mission based goals will deliver the greatest sense of pride and satisfaction once accomplished. You can only do so much in the time you have. Therefore, as you establish your goals, put them to the test: How connected are they to what you value most? If they’re not — change them or choose more “value-able” goals.

What Will Be Your Gift To Today?

Your personal MISSION is a well thought out statement of what you intend to give. It is a declaration of who you will be and what you will do to live these ideals.

Your mission is simple: Live your values, value your life.

Today’s TQ Challenge: Stay Connected to Your Mission.

  1. Choose to be SELF-GOVERNED! Who will you be and what will you do today to live your vision of how your life should be?
  2. Choose to be DECISIVE! Which role in your life needs a review of your core values, right now?
  3. Choose to be PURPOSEFUL! What do you need to change today to realize your vision of how you want to live your life?

In the trials and chaos of modern life, you need a set of standards to help guide you through the good times and the bad. The highest and most beneficial set of rules is the one you establish for the preferred way that you want to live. Once you have a list of your most important values, commit to a personal mission statement that declares how you will live what you value. The most basic mission statement is simply this: “I will live a life of… (insert your list of values here)… every day of my life.”

“A test of what is real is that it is hard and rough. Joys are found in it, not pleasure. What is pleasant belongs to dreams.” ~ Simone Weil

How Do You Feel Right Now?

The goal is peak physical performance — the power to perform at your optimum capacity every hour of the day. A significant factor that affects your energy level is the quality of the fuel you put into your body. Start noticing how you feel after you drink or eat different foods.

Eliminate any eating and drinking habits that steal more energy than they create.

Today’s TQ Challenge: Maintain The Best Diet for Maximum Strength and Stamina.

  1. Choose to be ENERGIZED! How energetic are you after eating a full plate of pasta?
  2. Choose to be INVIGORATED! How energetic are you one hour after eating an apple?
  3. Choose to be HEALTHY! Do you have more stamina after eating a high carbodydrate lunch or a high protein lunch?

Everyone’s body chemistry is different. You may react differently to some foods than other people do. How do you know if what you’re eating is right for you? Simply test different diets and find out for yourself! Keep a log of everything you eat and drink, then see how you feel afterwards. By recording your reactions, you’ll be able to see the relationship between what you eat and how you perform. Once this step is taken, you can make permanent changes in your diet to optimize your personal energy level.

  1. Choose to be PASSIONATE! What’s your passion?
  2. Choose to be DEDICATED! If you don’t have a passion right now, what comes the closest?
  3. Choose to be DEVOTED! When you were younger and more of a dreamer, what did you dream about?

When you are working toward an ideal that comes from the heart, you are naturally motivated and driven to do your best. A thoughtfully created, highly desirable personal mission is guaranteed to make you highly focused, powerful and productive. Act from your deepest values, and they will provide you with direction and satisfaction. Connect and recommit to your mission everyday. If you don’t, you’re trading the only life you have for things that simply don’t matter.

Are You Dreading Your Next Task?

When confronted with an unpleasant problem or task, deal with it immediately instead of wasting time worrying about it. This will free up your attention, and allow you to be more productive with the time remaining .

A thing begun is a thing half done. When faced with an unpleasant task, either begin with the easy part to build momentum, or do the most difficult part first to get yourself over the hump.

Today’s TQ Challenge: Do It Now — Get It Gone.

  1. Choose to be UNDAUNTED! What unpleasant problem or task will you confront this way today?
  2. Choose to be DILIGENT! What have you been putting off that you could work on for even 10 minutes right now?
  3. Choose to be DISCIPLINED! What unpleasant chores could you rotate among your co-workers?

There are few things in this world as empowering as completing an unpleasant task. When confronted with a distressing problem or task, complete it immediately instead of wasting time avoiding it. This relieves your concerns, frees up your attention and allows you to move on to more productive activities. If you know something must be done eventually, get started immediately. Do it right and get it off your back for good.

Could You Be Playing Doubles?

Whenever possible, look for a task that can be doubled up with other tasks. Do your errands and dictate a letter while traveling. Ride your exercise bike and read your favorite novel. Organize your workspace while you’re on hold on the phone.

Double your results this week by combining tasks whenever possible. Pair’em up and polish’em off! “Piggybacking” pays off!

Today’s TQ Challenge: Seek to Double Results — Ask “What Else Now?”

  1. Choose to be PRODUCTIVE! Which items on your Master List can be tackled simultaneously?
  2. Choose to be EFFICIENT! Which small but important daily tasks can you combine with other activities?
  3. Choose to be PROLIFIC! Which upcoming tasks lend themselves to simultaneous accomplishment?

You don’t have to double your speed to double your productivity. Instead, you can increase your results by combining complimentary tasks, projects or roles. Plan ahead and look for ways to maximize your time. Before you proceed, see if there is anything else you could be doing simultaneously. When you find a way to do two things in the same block of time you achieve twice the results — with little additional effort.

Have You Made It Crystal Clear?

If people aren’t doing what you want, ask yourself if they clearly understand exactly what you do want. What you get back is directly related to how specifically you ask for it.

If you’re not getting what you ask for, correct your communication skills first.

Today’s TQ Challenge: Make it Easy for Others to Help.

  1. Choose to be THOUGHTFUL! How clear are you with others about your objectives for each new project?
  2. Choose to be CONSIDERATE! Do you always clearly articulate the results you want?
  3. Choose to be APPRECIATIVE! Review today’s requests. Have you left any room for misunderstanding or misinterpretation?

It’s your responsibility to make it as easy — and as fun as possible — for others to help you. When you do, more people will show up, and once they arrive, will provide greater assistance than if you make it difficult. First, be clear what needs to be done. Articulate your requests with the greatest detail possible. Then, identify and eliminate any barriers that may prevent others from doing their level best to help you.

Urgent Vs Important. What’s The Difference?

Urgent vs. Important according to Webster: Urgent… calling for haste, immediate action. Important… meaning a great deal, having much value.

The important, by definition, is what is most valuable. Now, make it more urgent too.

Today’s TQ Challenge: Make Time for What You Want.

  1. Choose to be DEDICATED! Which of your activities today could be defined as urgent?
  2. Choose to be FULFILLED! Which of your activities today could be defined as important?
  3. Choose to be SATISFIED! What can you do to call for immediate action on that which means a great deal and has much value to you?

You will never magically have more time for what you want. If you want to spend more time on what’s most important to you, you have to make the time. You must learn to carve out “prime” time from all the other demands in your life. It really comes down to this, “How much do you want it?” When you focus your time on what’s most rewarding to you, your life will be more fulfilling.

A-Z Or Z-A?

Need A Break?

Deep breathing is the best way to promote mental stimulation. Take a brisk walk, do knee bends — anything to increase your deep breathing and stretch your muscles.

Taking a break and stretching is an excellent way to maintain your energy.

Today’s TQ Challenge: Watch Posture — Move About Energetically — Listen to Your Body.

  1. Choose to be ENERGETIC! Stand up right now and stretch or take a quick walk.
  2. Choose to be DYNAMIC! Can’t get away from the desk? Ever try isometrics? Stretching?
  3. Choose to be VIVACIOUS! Do you have an action plan for the next time your energy starts to fade?

There’s a direct connection between your physiology, your energy level and success. Whenever your body movements become lethargic, or your posture begins to slump, you automatically slow down — both mentally and physically. Assume a powerful, self-assured position and you’ll instantly feel more energetic. Move about quickly, and your enthusiasm naturally increases. Take deep breaths to get oxygen to your system and life to your spirits. Stand tall, and gain the confidence to proceed.
