If people aren’t doing what you want, ask yourself if they clearly understand exactly what you do want. What you get back is directly related to how specifically you ask for it.
If you’re not getting what you ask for, correct your communication skills first.
Today’s TQ Challenge: Make it Easy for Others to Help.
- Choose to be THOUGHTFUL! How clear are you with others about your objectives for each new project?
- Choose to be CONSIDERATE! Do you always clearly articulate the results you want?
- Choose to be APPRECIATIVE! Review today’s requests. Have you left any room for misunderstanding or misinterpretation?
It’s your responsibility to make it as easy — and as fun as possible — for others to help you. When you do, more people will show up, and once they arrive, will provide greater assistance than if you make it difficult. First, be clear what needs to be done. Articulate your requests with the greatest detail possible. Then, identify and eliminate any barriers that may prevent others from doing their level best to help you.
